5. Farewell!
Que pasa, y'all??
This is the last email y'all will be getting from the at home MTC since I officially only have 7 days left until I fly out! That means it's party time for sure. I have loved my time in the MTC and words can't express how much I love my district, but I am so excited to jump right into the real work. Don't get me wrong, it is also shaking-in-my-boots terrifying; I just found out my mom can't come with me so I don't know who is gonna rub my back after a long day... Anyways, yeah it is scary, but we had an amazing meeting with the president of the MTC that put a lot of my anxieties to rest, too! I know the people in Eugene ain't ready for this Texas girl to rock their world ;))
A lot more has happened this week with classes and workshops, it is getting REAL! Plus we learned what the subjunctive is in Spanish. Honestly, I never understood it even in high school. They have a whole set of conjugations for a tense that isn't even a tense like past or future. We don't have it in English, and I still don't get how to use it all the way but hey maybe I'll figure that out in the field? Other than confusing grammar, we've continued learning about how to teach and we had some powerful lessons and discussions on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Every single person in my district is going to be a powerful missionary; the testimonies they bore brought the Spirit so strongly in our meetings and their faith in and love for the Savior has increased my own. I love 13B!
I also had my farewell talk this last Sunday which was an awesome opportunity to share my testimony at church. I heard the broadcast did not work at all, which makes me so sad for my faraway friends and family (love y'all, thanks for trying!) Later that night, I had an open house (put on by my awesome Mom) to say goodbye to some friends from the area and it was pretty bittersweet. I was sad to say goodbye to people I love, but I really hope I can make them proud wherever I am serving.
I had a cool conversation with my Dad about his story of when he joined the church, and he shared a scripture that brought him a lot of comfort when he needed it. It was 1 Nephi 4:6 "And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do". My Dad didn't know perfectly what to do or how everything would work, but he knew this was the right church to join; so he held onto that knowledge and moved forward. I'm super grateful for his decision because I wouldn't be here if he didn't trust the Spirit. I know this verse will give me comfort as I move forward into a brand new world and I'm hoping it will give you some help too, in whatever you are going through. I'm always here for y'all and I know God is too!
¡Ya hablaremos!
Hermana Thrasher
PS- Just got off a phone call with my companion where she said "I literally almost just died, I hiccupped twice in a row" so that's Hermana Stokes for you haha
PPS- I heard some people haven't been getting my emails, so I'm trying something new. Let me know if you know someone who should get it, but doesn't!
