32: Hermana Trasher Strikes Again

Image
Happy Lunes :)     This week was a beat down! I got sick AGAIN. 3rd time in 2 months, but who's counting. At least I knew it wasn't Covid this time haha. I probably should've given myself more time to rest but we had to prepare for lots of conferences and meetings because a member of the 70 came to the mission!! Elder Costa came and we got another good roasting over technology.... oops.      Then we drove to Rosario and attended their conference, drove back, and went to the conference here in Venado Tuerto. We also had a few leadership meetings in the mix plus our normal missionary duties, so it was kind of a hectic few days. But I learned a LOT! And Elder Costa relit a fire out here in the mission, so that was really awesome.      We had an... interesting.... lesson with our friend Marta. We were trying to teach her about the Restoration of Christ's church and she was quite distracted. She told us about how her neighbor told her she can't have vi...

31: Sweet Tuna Roll Of Doom

Hola todos, como andan? Todo bien? Bueno, bienvenidos a mi correo esta semana. Recuestense, relájense, y disfruten :)     This week started off with my first mate adventure. I bought a mate the other week (the cup) and had some yerba that I won from white elephant so I figured this was the week to take the plunge... the first few sips were NASTY but with a little sugar and some time, I don't hate it! I feel like a real Argentine missionary now.     On a particularly rainy day we were walking to get our lunch from a sweet old lady in our branch who is an amazing cook. All we talked about on the way home was how excited we were to eat this lunch and enjoy a home cooked meal. We got home and opened our bag to find a beautiful meal that was decorated nicely and still warm. Then I took a bite and just about barfed. This thing was sweet bread (like a twinkie) rolled with Tuna, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, and mayo. There are very few things that I refuse to eat, but we defi...

En Seriously??

The theme this week was heat. Argentina had a heat wave come through and it was miserable haha. Presidente told us that for 6 hours on Saturday, Rosario would be the hottest place on earth. He was right. Luckily, I live 3 hours away, so Venado Tuerto was a few degrees cooler than the hottest place on earth. Also thanks to the heat, we had a couple power outages and water getting cut off so there was really no escaping the fiery inferno. Me and Hna Easton have been having a blast here as companions though. We really do click and stay up late talking every night. The good news is now I can connect with someone in English, the bad news is I'm using Spanish way less. However, we are making a list called "Gringo-isms" to help us with the language and sound less like Yankees (which is what they call Americans here, and it's pronounced shankee). One funny thing about it though is I'm truly learning Spanglish. In spanish "seriously??" is "en serio??". ...

29: Cuarentena

Cliff hanger over, I got covid! It wasn't fuerte, just like a bad cold with some decente fatigue so not as bad as it could've been. However, getting sick included a 5 day quarantine for the both of us.      I may have gone a little stir crazy. I was used to walking for miles every day and not in circles around our apartment. I deep cleaned the place, organized shelves with things I didn't even know we had, and had at least 4 solo dance parties while Hna Martinez slept.      Because of that, I don't have many stories this week! Once we got out of quarantine, we got to go with Hermano Ermacora to give our friend Marta a blessing and it was an amazing experience! Marta has been searching for peace in her life for a very long time. And oh boy did we have good news for her! It's called the Gospel of Jesus Christ!! (Lmk if you want to learn more ;))     My last piece of news comes from transfers. Hermana Martinez said chau and headed into the big city o...

28: Año Nuevo

Hello my friends! How are yall!      This week flew by! It started off with a pretty good power outage that lasted for a pretty good amount of time. We got creative with the one flashlight we had, we did weekly planning in the dark, and it was HOT. But the worst part was the cockroaches. Usually I'm asleep when it's dark enough for them to come out, but I was definitely wide awake and saw more cucarachas than I hope to ever see again. It was nasty.      We had a busy week of lessons and finding and reconnecting with previously taught people. One of my favorite amigos, Juan Cruz, accepted the invitation to pray about a baptismal date! I'm so excited for him, he is one of the sweetest dudes alive. Our other friends are still dodging us and won't keep any of their commitments to read the Book of Mormon or attend church, so we are about to start a whole week of finding more people who hopefully have more interest.      We had our New Year's festi...
