75: Messi :)

Image
Argentina is simply the best.     We have permission to watch the world cup with members, so this Saturday I was sitting at the Gamboa's table, sipping my terere, and yelling at the TV with an Argentina flag draped around my shoulders. I never really liked futbol before, but I understand it now.      Plus, since Messi is from Rosario, the people here are going CRAZY. I'm in a little town on the outskirts of Rosario, but we go into the city at least 4 times a week and the people are just going wild. I love it so much. I did buy a jersey and snapped a picture of his childhood home. No shame.     Even though it's hotter than hot and our pensión is literally full of cucarachas, I have such a love for Argentina. I have been working on developing charity this transfer and I think it is paying off, which I love but also hate because it's making it harder to think about leaving.     This week, focusing on gratitude really helped me keep working hard....

74: Hot

Image
I said it was hot last week. I was kidding. THIS week was hot. We had a couple 98 degree days. Throw in about 5 million mosquitos, 80% humidity, and then go walking for 5 hours. But actually, it's not awful, The watch tan line makes it all worth it. I MET MY MTC COMP! Hna Stokes had to come into the Rosario mission from the Santa Fe mission to do visa paperwork in the government office here and I happened to be in the church building 5 blocks away from the bus terminal, so we got to meet in person for the first time. It was so weird. She's real haha!  We also had a zone conference, exchanges with the hermanas from Echesortu, and met a lot of new friends. We had a video call lesson with our torta frita man from last week... We were a little apprehensive when he answered the call without a shirt on, but felt a little better when he stood up to put on some sweatpants. Franco is pretty interesting to say the least.  At the zone conference, I had the opportunity to b...

73: It's Jorts Season

Image
So much happened this week:     -Knocked a door and Franco came out! Hes awesome and loved hearing about the restoration and wanted to learn more when we came back but before we left he went inside and came back with a torta frita for each of us.     -We had the cutest family home evening with the only active family in Funes. For the first time in months, all the sons were home so we got together!! Ian played the violin and we sang hymns, shared a message about baptism, and finished off the night with some real gourmet pizzas. Have yall ever had a pizza with peanut butter as the sauce and strawberries as the topping?     -We got DRENCHED in a storm the other day. I mean there were full lakes of rain water in my shoes. But luckily we were on our way home so we changed into some cozy stuff, turned on some Christmas music, and warmed up.     -We had zone council in the famous Zona Centrooooo (AKA Club Atlético Zona Centro) and talked a lot about the ...

72: I'm A Mom

First of all, I hope y'all know that vitamin d fixes all your problems. Fun fact about me, I have been given prescription strength vitamin d supplements by my doctor 3 different times. I guess I'm just clinically deficient or something. Well, I didn't take any with me on the mission and when I told my mission president wife about that, she scolded me with love and sent me home with a bottle of vitamin d and one more of vitamin b for good measure. And ya know what? It works. I feel 10x better. With Hna Judd leaving and transfers and waiting for Hna Neuffer (my trainee) to come, I have had a total of 4 different companions and 3 different areas in this week. It was really fun and kind of hectic but everything has settled out now.  I got to spend a night in Carcaraña, my favorite town in the whole wide world. And I got to see all my favorite people at a ward activity. I got to get an Agustina hug, hear Hno Girello exclaim "espectacular!!!", and have the ultimate ping...
