18. Fingerprinting Fun

Image
It's been a whole week already! Wow!     This week we did a lot! We had a lot of lessons, we had a lot of services, we had a lot of cancellations, we met a lot of interesting people, we did a lot of missionary work overall!     One of my favorite people to meet with is Terri, who used to be a guard at a maximum security men's prison. She is loaded, lives in a huge house on a golf course, and has an awesome garden that we like to help her out in. This week, she started talking about how lonely she is and we offered to come back later to hang out. So we came back for s'mores! She filled us in on all the bachelorette drama and her favorite Hallmark movies. We love Terri's bright laugh and I know she would love the gospel if she wanted to hear it, but right now we are just loving on her!     The most interesting service we did this week was actually really sketchy. We went to help a lady from the ward move her stuff and spent an hour emptying out storage units ...

17. Marathons

Happy Monday friends! This week was wild with transfers! I said goodbye to some good friends and hello to some more! I also got news that I will (hopefully) be going to Argentina on the 18th instead of the 4th, which is a little disappointing but at least I have some more time to magically learn Spanish! If we are being honest, I can't even think of what happened this week. I remember waking up at 5am on Saturday to work at a marathon and pass out waters. We worked at the station that was 1 mile from the finish line, so almost everybody was completely dead by the time they reached us. It was fun to cheer them on, go crazy with the cowbells, and make them smile. Plus we got to wear super fun outfits and I felt like a middle-aged construction worker.  We taught all our same friends, including Sister Oden! She is a sweet lady who has not been to church in a while. Recently, her husband passed away, so she has been meeting with us to get a refresher on the gospel and figure out what sh...

16. A Busy One

Happy P-day, y'all! So much happened this week and I don't have time to do a fully written out email, so I hope these bullet points are enough! - We made a goal with Kat to quit smoking by Thanksgiving because she really wants to be baptized by the new year!! Woohoo! - Luis is gonna be baptized this Saturday! We had in-person church for the first time since being here, and Luis got to meet so many new friends in the ward. I think he is going to love his new church family. - A super nice member of the church paid for In-n-Out for us and it was such a sweet gesture that brightened our day. - Another member of the ward ding-dong ditched us and dropped off chili, cornbread, oil, and milk after hearing about my miracle from last week haha! - The young women in our ward drew little chalk sayings and quotes from conference all over our driveway, which was super sweet.  - I got the news that I am going to Argentina on NOVEMBER 4TH!! I am so excited! Let's go Rosario! - By some odd ...

15. You Guessed It... MORE CHANGE

Image
Feliz Lunes!!     As slow as last week was, this week flew by! We had more change here in Eagle Point, Sister Silifaiva also got emergency transferred this week, so our original group of 4 is down to 2. Me and Sister Biehn are taking on the world together, haha! This transfer ends in about a week, and then we will be back to 4, so it's ok.      This week, we got to meet 2 awesome ladies. One is Kat who is a FIRECRACKER! She has been taught by missionaries for a while, but hasn't quit smoking yet. Well, we are working with her on that, but this week we taught her the Law of Chastity (this lesson is all about sexual purity). I'll just say that Kat went into full detail of her dating life... if you know what I mean. It was honestly hilarious and she committed to living the Law of Chastity, so it all worked out!     The second lady is Terri! She lives alone in a huge, gorgeous home on a golf course, she travels the world all by herself, and she worked as a...
