62: Billy Joel

Image
Well this week y'all get bullet points because there is just too much to say and not enough time... sorry I never have time to write a quality email haha! .Someone ducking down and trying to hide from us by crawling across the room... but we definitely saw them through the window. .Say Goodbye to Hollywood by Billy Joel played at full blast in the Argentine equivalent of CVS. It was like getting a hug from home. .We had a dog follow us for about 45 minutes and then lay at our feet while we ate dinner at an outdoor restaurant and did Facebook work. .We talked to a lady in the street and didn't even mention anything about church or the fact that we are missionaries but I guess she felt uncomfortable because she just turned to walk away. But then 2 steps later she turned back around and gave us her address and told us to visit. I asked if she had met missionaries before and she said no, so I don't know how she knew we wanted to share the gospel with her but she did. .Hna Judd ...

This week we had a photographer at church. Like dslr-camera-with-a-huge-flash- thing-on-top kind of paparazzi man. Really, he was just there to take photos of the various government officials who came to visit our sacrament meeting on Sunday. I guess the visitors were a really big deal because the members were lining up to greet them after the meeting, but I really have no idea who they were. But we got to give every single one a Libro de Mormon with a Christus statue, and that was cool.  Other than that we had a lot of meetings. MLC, zone council, a leadership training, and a mini MTC for the youth in the stake made this week short on time. I LOVED the mini MTC. We basically got to teach a workshop on how to teach the first lesson, which is the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the Prophet Joseph Smith. Wow. We got to talk with about 60 youth about their testimonies and their desires to serve. The youth are really powerful. I ate a lot of ice cream this week. ...

60: Enchanted To Meet Youuu

Hola de Funes!! Is this one of the richest areas I have ever served in? Yes. Does that make it harder to find people who want to change their lives? Yes. But are there really cute stores to buy lots of cute clothes? Also yes. So really it all balances out in the end. But really, I just got to find the key to finding people to teach in Funes. Our teaching pool is small right now, zero actually. And the tactics I learned in other areas don't seem to work here. So this next week will be some trial and error until we hit our stride here. The best news though is that I get along great with my companion and we have a lot of fun together. She keeps me laughing all day and is a BEAST with the street contacts. We had a fun connection from living in Texas and Colorado at different times in our lives. She is probably one of the strongest people I have ever met in my life and the more I hear about her life, the more I am amazed at her testimony. But I am really excited to get this transfer sta...

Sometimes I forget I'm in Argentina and I just think I'm in a really weird part of the US. Then I remember what the globe looks like and where Argentina is on that globe. This week I got to experience so many things that made me fall in love with my mission all over again. I love the members in CarcaraƱa. We had asado with Gilda and her family, fancy desserts with the Girellos, we played uno with so many fun families and laughed until we cried, we got to see so many people at church who don't usually come, and even ate some pizza with a slightly tipsy very inactive member that we love a lot. The slightly tipsy member asked us what we wanted to drink and we said coke and she was worried that we would be breaking the word of wisdom by doing that. She said "Me va a castigar Dios che!!", which now that I'm reading it, it's only funny in spanish. I also love our friends so much. Paulina is getting baptized in 2 weeks!! Walter just accepted a date to be baptized...

This week was one of those weeks where you just put your head down and get to work. Lots of little miracles, lots of big miracles, lots of walking, and lots of new friends. I love being a missionary haha. I will go ahead and bullet point this week for y'all so y'all can read this email real rapido and go about your day. - Paulina wants to get baptized the 27th of August, 5 days after her 9th birthday woooooo - We taught our taxi driver the Restoration on a 30 minute car ride to one of the pueblos in our area and he loved it. Yay for Angel! - Interviews with President and Hermana Tolman. Apparently Pte has "a lot of future career options in mind" for me so catch me being a millionaire by age 26.  -  We went to teach Agostina about tithing and she told us that she had already researched it on her own in the gospel library app. She just wanted to know if she had to wait until after her baptism to start paying. - Did exchanges with Hermana Pinar and every single lesson fe...
