36: Vos?

Well! Transfers happened and I'm staying in Venado Tuerto!! With Hna Easton!! This transfer is probably gonna be the best one yet. We spent a lot of time last transfer figuring out what doesn't work so we are ready to get started.      With that being said, we found a TON of new people this week. One was a golden man named Fran who showed up to the church because he wanted a Book of Mormon... say what??? He's so cool. He lives outside of our area though, so we had to pass him off to the missionaries serving in his town.     We also found Andres, who is going through a really hard time because of some recent deaths in his family. We've only gotten to teach him over the phone because he's in Neuquen half the time for his job.      We had an interesting meeting with a very católica lady. She came to our church building to meet with us, the missionaries of the church, and then got offended when I said that our church has the fullness of the gospel. No...

35: A Day In Villa

I have such a story to tell y'all this week so buckle up. It may be a little long. But even if you never read any of my emails, read this one.      If you could tell from the last few emails, I've been pretty beat down. In 8 months, I haven't really seen success from my efforts and this week I started to wonder why I am even out here. Life at home was starting to sound really nice...     Then I had the chance to work in Villa Constitución with one of my best friends Hermana Judd. We got to do service for an inactive lady and we left her with a Book of Mormon and promised that if she read the chapter we suggested, she would know what Christ expects her to do with the covenants she made at baptism. It was so powerful!     Then we got to go to a lesson with Guillermo. He is amazing. The sisters had been in his neighborhood, met his mom, and set up a return appointment. So I went with Judd to teach him all about the Restoration. Guillermo shared with us th...

34: A Series Of Unfortunate Conversations

This week so much happened but also.... not a lot happened? It was an interesting week to say the least.      I'll start with my biggest news of the week. I bought a guitar. You may be wondering, "Hermana, when did you learn to play guitar?" The answer is I didn't. But I am now! I went with my friend from our branch to get one because I don't know anything about guitars let alone the spanish vocab for them. I felt it was only appropriate to name the guitar after him... so everyone say hi to Valentino!      Then, our friend Marta (the one that came to church) called to tell us that she never wants to talk to us nor go to church with us again. It was a very sad call to receive and really put me in the dumps for the rest of the day. She didn't say why other than the fact that she already had her own church. I'll miss her.     Continuing on our bad streak of unfortunate conversations, we met Alfredo. Oh my. This hombre. We run into him outside his hou...

33: Highs And Lows

I don't have a ton of time this week but I want y'all to know that I'm alive haha!     This week had some highlights: -exchanges with Hermana Ponce de Leon out in San Nicolas -Met with a family who lived in a tin roof shack on the side of the railroad tracks and I couldn't hear anything they said over the sound of the rain, but they were some of the kindest people I've met.  -someone we taught gave us a massive bag filled with facturas. They were the best facturas I have ever had in my entire life.  -Ate at a food truck called Glup! I still prefer Whataburger though.  -It cooled off! I don't get heat stroke every time I step outside now.  -I'm not sure why all my highlights include food this week, but I have to talk about ROGELES. They are an Argentine speciality that are basically crepe cakes if the crepes were crunchy and the filling was dulce de leche. So. Good.  -MARTA came to church!! We walked with her to the capilla and a 15 minute walk turned i...
