15. You Guessed It... MORE CHANGE
Feliz Lunes!!
As slow as last week was, this week flew by! We had more change here in Eagle Point, Sister Silifaiva also got emergency transferred this week, so our original group of 4 is down to 2. Me and Sister Biehn are taking on the world together, haha! This transfer ends in about a week, and then we will be back to 4, so it's ok.
This week, we got to meet 2 awesome ladies. One is Kat who is a FIRECRACKER! She has been taught by missionaries for a while, but hasn't quit smoking yet. Well, we are working with her on that, but this week we taught her the Law of Chastity (this lesson is all about sexual purity). I'll just say that Kat went into full detail of her dating life... if you know what I mean. It was honestly hilarious and she committed to living the Law of Chastity, so it all worked out!
The second lady is Terri! She lives alone in a huge, gorgeous home on a golf course, she travels the world all by herself, and she worked as a guard in a maximum security prison when she was younger, haha! She was so much fun to do service for, we just put away some patio furniture for the winter, but we made her set up a time for us to come back so we could hear some prison stories.
Other highlights this week include interviews with President Weekes, General Conference (Ft Worth temple, whaaaaat?), a super fun scavenger hunt with my zone, epic timer selfies, and movie nights on the projector.
To close this week's email, I just want to share a little miracle that happened this week. For some backstory: missionaries get a certain amount of money every 2 weeks to buy everything they need (including food, medicine, cleaning supplies, household items, etc). As you can imagine, the budget is pretty tight. Well, Sister Biehn and I were stretching our last few dollars and we just had cans of chili and some cornbread mix left before we could go shopping. We started cooking and found that the cornbread called for 1/3 cup of oil and 1 cup of milk. We looked at our supplies and realized we maybe had 1 tbsp of oil and 1/2 cup of milk. I kind of shrugged my shoulders and figured we would do our best. As I started pouring the little bit of oil, the measuring cup just kept filling up! The oil did not stop until it reached the exact rim of that 1/3 cup. We were laughing in disbelief and thanking heaven. Then, we started pouring our milk and the EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED! That milk just kept pouring until it reached the very top of the cup. Right there, Sister Biehn and I thanked Heavenly Father for looking out for 2 sister missionaries trying to make their cornbread. It truly was a loaves and fishes moment for us.
As silly as that story may be, I know that Heavenly Father is mindful of us. He sees you, yes I mean YOU, right where you are. He knows what you need and what you can become, and He is waiting to bless you. His hand is in every moment of your life. Let Him in, let Him help, and let Him be the biggest part of your life. It is hard, it is scary, but it is oh so worth it!
I love y'all! Have a great week!
