18. Fingerprinting Fun
It's been a whole week already! Wow!
This week we did a lot! We had a lot of lessons, we had a lot of services, we had a lot of cancellations, we met a lot of interesting people, we did a lot of missionary work overall!
One of my favorite people to meet with is Terri, who used to be a guard at a maximum security men's prison. She is loaded, lives in a huge house on a golf course, and has an awesome garden that we like to help her out in. This week, she started talking about how lonely she is and we offered to come back later to hang out. So we came back for s'mores! She filled us in on all the bachelorette drama and her favorite Hallmark movies. We love Terri's bright laugh and I know she would love the gospel if she wanted to hear it, but right now we are just loving on her!
The most interesting service we did this week was actually really sketchy. We went to help a lady from the ward move her stuff and spent an hour emptying out storage units until she asked us to come to her house and load some more stuff from there. Long story short, when we get to her house her roommate comes out and tells us that we "don't know who we are dealing with" and that she is a kleptomaniac who is lying to our church to get free stuff. Well, then everybody shows up and starts arguing. When the f-bombs started flying my companions and I slipped away. Sadly, the U-Haul was blocking our escape so we sat and waited for everyone to clear out.
I met some really... interesting... people on Facebook this week. Somehow my profile has been really popular in Africa because I get 42 friend request from random African men everyday. OH! Random topic change, but someone I know here works for homeland security so I got fingerprinted for Argentina at his office and then got a whole tour of the facility. Armories, training rooms, jail cells, interview rooms, evidence (which we weren't actually allowed in), gadgets, and much more. It was a very exciting day.
I have so many small stories from this week that made me laugh. Like when Sister Biehn spit her milkshake onto her arm to scare away a bee or when an old guy at the gas station told me to run away with him on his Harley. Or maybe the time that I accidentally stepped on a crawfish in the middle of the church parking lot... I am still not sure how it got there.
My favorite part of this week though has been the personal studies I have been able to have every morning. I have been studying the concept of grace! Do you guys know how freeing it is to realize that you will NEVER be enough?? It is so amazing! I can work as hard as possible, do the best I can, and fight against every temptation, but I am human. I am not supposed to be perfect and I am not supposed to get to heaven on my own. All I have to do is my best, and when I fall (which I will inevitably do), I just have to stand up, brush myself off, and try again. Life is full of ups and downs but God's love for you and His grace is always available.
I love you all! Have a safe week, a spooky Halloween, and say a prayer for my visa to go through!

3. Terri! She actually made fun of me for how I look in this picture.... sad.
4. This is the cat at the pear farm, he is 20 years old.
5. The sketchy service
6. My pal Vic, a recent convert who loves the missionaries. He has quite the attitude though haha.
7. One of my favorite families to visit, the Jardines. 5 girls, 4 missionaries, a mom, and a kitten named Otis. Their house is always in some state of chaos and it feels like home!
8. A drawing done by Miss Claire Jardine. Can you guess which one is me?
