19. The Scooby-Doo Squad

This week was so busy and really fun! We worked really hard to set up lots of appointments and meet some people we haven't had the chance to meet yet. We also had a blast doing tons of different services. Plus Halloween was a party, but you'll hear more about that later.

One of my favorite services was out on the Ogle's land... if that sounds familiar, you are probably friends with me on Facebook. We got to go help feed and brush out their 4 horses in the evening, which was so fun! I haven't been around horses in a while and getting to do some chores with them was refreshingly therapeutic. Plus the land was gorgeous and the weather was kind of moody, so the ambience was stellar. Along with the horses, we met about 17 goats. My favorite one was a BIG guy named Wrangler, but he was too shy to come say hi :((

We visited our pal Kat who has a SUPER strong desire to be baptized, but is struggling to quit smoking. She wants to quit by Thanksgiving so she can be baptized by the new year and she is super motivated, but she can't quite give up the cigs. If any of y'all have good tips for helping her out, let me know! We also visited Lisa and Desmond Geer. Lisa is 11 and Desmond is 7 but Lisa hasn't been baptized! We have been trying to teach them a lot so they can make the choice to be baptized, but they are extremely hard to teach. They just get super distracted and can't focus on the lesson hardly ever. Sooo, if anyone has advice on teaching rambunctious kids, let me know too!

Halloween was super fun because we got to dress up together! We decided on one of the classic group costumes, the Scooby-Doo Gang. Sister Biehn was Fred, Sister Peterson was Daphne, Sister Simmons was Velma, I was Shaggy, and Scooby is a funny story. We were pretty bummed out that we didn't have a Scooby to come around with us, but as we were leaving our house on Saturday, a random Doberman ran into our garage and started jumping on us! We were laughing SO hard because we had found our Scooby! Long story short, he was our neighbor's dog who had gotten out and we sent him home (after taking pictures). I'm pretty sure God sent us a Scooby for at least a little bit of time to complete our costume.

My spiritual pondering this week comes from my favorite lady to teach, Sister Oden. I really can't remember what I have said about her in the past, but basically she has been an inactive member of our church for a very long time. Recently, her husband passed away and she wanted to come back to church so that she could be worthy to go to the temple and be sealed to him for time and all eternity. It has been so fun to watch her give up coffee, start praying again, reading her scriptures, and coming to church. She is an incredible lady with a deep desire to be with her husband again and come closer to Christ. I love the peace that it brings me to know that families are forever. I couldn't imagine not having my mom, dad, brother, and all my extended family when I get to heaven. I honestly don't think it would be heaven without them! God loves us a lot to have given us our families and He must love us even more to let us be with them forever.

I love each of y'all! Go listen to the new Cody Johnson song, it is life-changing haha!
