21. All The Dogs
Wow, this week was one of my favorites! So many random stories to share this week.
We visited a woman in the ward who fed us chocolate cake. Except the cake didn't actually work out and we were eating chocolate soup. Basically it was like someone mixed chocolate syrup, oats, and almonds together and served it. Yummy!
We had a lesson where the guy's dog just decided to use the floor as his personal bathroom right in the middle of us teaching.
We played candy poker at the Bishops house but nobody actually wanted to win and then we stole his dog. We had a sleepover with him in the blanket fort we made.
We had a service opportunity to help an old Finnish couple pack up their house and my job was books. I don't speak Finnish by any means, but I could tell that every single book was a cheesy romance novel haha. Plus they had a whole entire sauna room!
Our Bishop's daughter used her Carhartt discount to get us all beanies, which was nice but I think it was just payback for me speaking all the time. My first week I spoke at church, then 5 weeks later I spoke again, and then yesterday they randomly called me up to say something since it's my last week. Kinda wild, kinda fun.
We had 3 meals of chili and cornbread in less than 24 hours and it wrecked my digestive system. On the other hand, we took a pull up bar from some other missionaries and I can almost do 1 pull up... so maybe the chili unlocked some super strength.
We visited our favorite ancient mustache woman and learned that she is a great great grandma, she remembers not having any electricity, and her favorite invention is the washing machine. And she may be my favorite person to visit.
My fingerprints were rejected so I had to run around and redo everything for that in the space of 2 hours, but it all worked out and I got my flight plans! This is the last email you'll get from me in the US of A!
A lot of people have been asking me how I feel about leaving, but I'm honestly all good! The thing I love about missions is they are completely led by the Lord! I know that where I am, where I go, and where I end up is exactly where I need to be. It won't be easy, but I have faith in God's plan and I'm excited to dig in!
Bonus fav new verse:
D&C 66:6
"Inasmuch as you can send, send"
Love y'all! Have a fantastic week!
