37: Que En El Mundo
Just about every day this week had a "what in the world is happening" moment. But so it goes, right?
We started off this week with a lot of schedule flipping and changing and miscommunication about some meetings, but it's all good. We ended up going to Rosario on Wednesday night with the Murphy sisters in a very small taxi. The Ruta was terrifying as usual. It's a literal 2 lane road that doesn't have a speed limit and a ton of semi trucks. Basically, everybody is flying through the Argentina countryside and passing trucks and avoiding potholes and everything at like 75mph.
Our meetings went really well and we actually got to be part of a surprise pregnancy reveal!! One of the Tolmans's sons and his wife have been trying for a long time and are finally having a baby! So they had us help them surprise Pte & Hna Tolman with the news. It was a super cute moment and all the Hermanas in the room were crying haha.
More meetings happened but they were pretty boring in comparison to that one. Then we all piled back into a small taxi and drove home. Our taxi driver took 3.5 hours to get home because he drove 50mph the whole time. At least that was somewhat safer?
Well, the next day we had a meeting with our new family of 5 kids that we are teaching. We have visited them a couple times, and they are always super loco. Hermana Easton says it reminds her of home haha. The lesson we planned went straight out the window when the kids started asking questions about the afterlife. We ended up teaching them about God's plan for us.
It was a pretty hard lesson, the kids were NOT paying attention in the slightest, the mom was stressed that the kids were not paying attention, and it was raining so their broken roof was dripping water on all of us.
As we finish up that lesson, we get a call from the APs and we run outside to answer. Long story short, they told us we are going to be getting a third companion from Uruguay named Hermana Arnould. We asked when... he said she would be at our pension in 10 minutes.
Apparently they had tried to call us while we were in the lesson to let us know, but we had our phone on silent. Since we were 45 minutes from our pension, they just had the taxi driver bringing Hermana Arnould come pick us up too. So. Now I'm in a trio for the rest of the transfer. Didn't have a long time to process that one before it happened haha.
But Hermana Arnould is amazing. She's seriously so cute, so sweet, and super hard working. She speaks English pretty dang fluently so we practice with her at night. It's fun to finally be correcting someone else on their grammar for once ;)
So yeah this week has been pretty crazy, but one of my favorite parts have been my experiences with prayer. Growing up, I think I said morning prayer 6 times total. It's not that I didn't want to, I would just forget... every single day. Coming onto the mission though has fixed my bad habits and helped me to see miracles from my prayers. There's a verse that says "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13)
It's so true. When we have crazy weeks, hard weeks, sad weeks, discouraging weeks, etc and all we desire is a little bit of peace, we can find it. When we seek God in our prayers, we WILL find Him. He promises us that. But we do have to search with all our heart..... so my 7am prayers should probably be a little more coherent.
This week as I've worked to be a little less stressed and understand Spanish a little more, turning to prayer is what has helped me find strength! I'm nowhere near being a perfect missionary or fluent in Spanish yet, but I'm still here and I'm still improving every day. And that's a miracle to me.
Love yall! Someone with snow at their house, have a snowball war for me, I miss the cold!
