38: Vos Dijiste Mal

Another crazy week! We didn't get a new companion this time, but we had zone conferences and other fun activities. We started off with a zone pday last monday and spent time playing volleyball and eating hamburgers (US hamburgers are still superior). My zone is the absolute best, they only put dope missionaries out in the boonies.

Then we had zone conferences! Zone conferences are always super uplifting and I LOVE learning from my leaders and the Spirit. This was my first time giving a presentación in a conference and it was a little nerve wracking. It went well enough, I only forgot like 34 words in Spanish... but I blame that on exhaustion from the carbon monoxide alarm that went off at 3am. Plus it was really fun to make the trek up to Rosario and see all my missionary friends who got transferred there.

We visited our familia loca this week too because Julian turned 9!! So we brought a banana cake (really just Banana bread in a cake mold) and had a Fiesta. The whole time we were there the kids would say "AY DRASHA, DECÍ CHOCOLATE" (translation: Hey Thrasher, say chocolate). So I would say chocolate. And they would DIE laughing. Over and over and over again I said chocolate and they would say "Nooooo vos dijiste mal!!!" (You said it wrong). To be honest, I still don't know how I was saying it wrong, maybe I'll never know.

The next time we went to visit, the kids prayed that I would always say chocolate for them and keep being a fun missionary. Even though they are wild and make fun of me all the time and scare me a little bit... I love them. I don't want to think about even the possibility of getting transferred.

AND THEY CAME TO CHURCH! Which is a STORY. We said we would bring facturas to their house in the morning before church, which we did! We were just followed by 3 dogs the whole way there. One of the dogs had a collar and a name and a number so we were trying to get it home since it had followed us for 2 miles to this family's house.... but he wouldn't leave us alone. The whole time we walked, more dogs just kept joining in and we had 6 at one point. Eventually we got to their house, waited a long time for them to get ready, and hopped in their massive van with no chairs to get to the church. We had to bring the collared dog with us, though and it was a little cramped. Let me know if you want to see the video of the ride haha!

We may have gotten to the chapel 20 minutes late, but the branch was so excited to see the big family, and it went well!! The kids only swore like 7 times in the Primary with the other children woohoo! They said they want to come back every week, and I'm gonna make sure they do.

The work with the members has been going a lot better and they are a lot more willing to work with us, which is always good news. We have some activities planned to help with unity in the branch and also do a deep clean in the chapel... It's pretty bad. Overall it was a good week and I'm already dreading transfers because I don't want things to change.

To finish off, I just want to share a verse with yall!! It's in Alma 5:23, and it says: "Know ye not that ye are in the hands of God?"

I saw that verse in one of my friend's journals this week and it really made me stop and think. With all the stress of zone conferences and getting that huge family to church, sometimes I feel like it's all on me. But sometimes I need to slow down and remember that I am in God's hands and He is helping me along the way. Seeing that verse reminded me to stress a little less and trust God a little more.

Mucho amor,

Hermana Thrasher
