41: Taste Buds

Okay here we go! A new week, new stories, new miracles, new lows, it's all part of the game.

This week started with a fun pday of hermanas in Rosario! We got to paint mate cups for each other, play some volleyball, have a picnic, and listen to our STLs empower us as sisters haha. All in all, 10/10 day.

Then we had exchanges! I stayed here and Hermana Martinez came to spend the day with me. We had a crazy day visiting the familia loca, having a powerful lesson with Norma, and knocking doors. At the end of the day, we were walking to find some ice cream and I saw a door that I just KNEW we had to knock. So we went and knocked. The guy who answered the door (Federico) was obviously not very happy to see us. He told us that every few months the same things happen: missionaries knock on his door and tell him they felt really strongly that they had to stop by and he sends them away. I said "I think that's a sign" and he said "No". I just looked at him and said "Then what is it Federico??". Long story short, we set up a time to return on Tuesday.

This week we also had interviews with President woohoo! He dropped the news bomb on me that I am getting transferred.... big sad face. I love Venado Tuerto!! So much. I love the members here and the away from home family I've found. I think President could tell that the news wrecked my mood because when I jokingly asked if he would buy me a cake, he pulled out his wallet. Gotta love President Tolman.

After that, I was a ball of nerves for the rest of the week, waiting to hear where I would go, who I would be with, etc. It was a stressful few days. And I'm gonna leave y'all on a cliff hanger haha! Tune in next week to see where I end up.

I had my last Friday lunch with Ilse. 5 months ago, Ilse signed up to feed me and my comp on a Friday. During that lunch, we both said something at the same time and Ilse told me that that means we are going to be in each other's lives for a very long time. After that, Ilse signed up for every Friday lunch with us. Well, this was my last one in Venado Tuerto. And Ilse made us tongue. Literal. Cow. Tongue.

Listen, I'm a try anything once kind of person. And I'm generally not that picky (unless you make apple pie, ew). But I saw that tongue sitting in the pot and immediately felt nauseous. You could LITERALLY see the taste buds. But I had to at least try it. Not just to be able to say that I did, but because Ilse worked really hard to make it. I'll spare you the gorey details.... but feeling cow taste buds on YOUR OWN TASTE BUDS is unholy. I felt pretty sick. But at least now I can cross that off my bucket list.

Then General Conference happened. Wow. Talk about FUERTE. I loved every single talk, it felt like all of them were laser focused on me and my needs. God decided to strike me down with a nasty cold this weekend, which was a blessing and a curse. We had to cancel all our plans to watch with friends or members because we didn't want to infect them. But the good news is, that means I got to watch it in English (not gonna lie, I was kinda nervous to watch it in Spanish).

So yes, conference was amazing. I hope you all got lots of inspiration and motivation for the next 6 months! For me, every single one of the 6 questions I wrote down before conference was answered. What's even more special, is that not a single question was answered directly word for word by someone. Instead, as I listened, the Spirit was able to give me the answers I had been looking for! It was really cool to have that experience during this conference.

I made a list of all the things I learned in Venado Tuerto. Things like how to work hard in the face of opposition, how to be really patient, how to trust in God's timing, how to love mate, how to speak Spanish (almost), how to endure. I'm definitely not perfect at these things, but as I've reflected on the last months, I'm really grateful for my time here. It wasn't easy. But I know God had a perfect plan for me here and put me exactly where I needed to be. And He will continue to do so!

Thanks for all the love and support this week! I love y'all to Argentina and back.
