45: Happy Birthday To Me
This week was really satisfying, but in a really weird way. I'll give you a disclaimer, we did not have any numerical success whatsoever. But we did work really hard and gave it our all, so I'm still proud of the work we did do.
Knocking doors is harder in our new area because everybody is already super religious and tells us that everyone else that they can possibly think of would not want to hear a message about Jesus Christ. I'm very sad. I think everyone should hear a message about Jesus Christ.
That's alright though, we just gotta figure out what works here and what doesn't.
We had fun exchanges with Sister Vargas. I went out to Funes to spend the day with her. Funes is SUPER cute. We were supposed to go visit this guy named Axel, but we were only given his general area and the fact that he has a black gate.
Well we get to the general area and literally every single house has a big black gate. So we spent a long time trying to find our mystery man... to no avail.
I also learned how the buses work here and how absolutely motion sick I get on them.
And yes!! I turned 20! I'm super vieja now. I don't know why 20 feels SO much older than 19, but it does. I loved my birthday: it was so fun to get birthday messages from all my friends and family.
Plus, we had a lesson planned with Teresa, and when we showed up she had baked a cake and set up balloons and streamers and made us pizza. It was the best surprise party of my life.
The elders in our district left me a pint of ice cream in the freezer at church as a gift, and they made us a card. It's mostly just cute because of how much effort they obviously put into it.
The lessons we did manage to have were super powerful. In one lesson with Valeria, the Spirit was super strong in testifying of the importance of living the Gospel of Jesus Christ and following His example.
In a different lesson, the Spirit was super powerful as we taught Gisela about the Restoration.
Man, I love teaching.
A verse I read this week really stuck with me:
"For the Lord God giveth light unto the understanding; for he speaketh unto men according to their language, unto their understanding." 2 Nephi 31:3
I love that God speaks to us in the way that WE individually will understand. It's not like He will only use one language and it's just too bad, so sad if you don't get it. He really does want to talk to us.
Anyways. Basically the Holy Ghost is super cool. Write me a quick email if you have a good study suggestion for learning more about it, I will gladly take it.
Mucho Amor,
Hermana Thrasher
