46: Pablo And John 13:35
One day while doing studies, Hna Baldauf looks out the window and goes "There's a whole entire parrot on our balcony". Well it wasn't a parrot, but we went out to catch him and he was the sweetest thing. We named him Pablo. He just hopped on my shoulder, gave me lots of kisses, ate some bread, squawked a couple times, and flew away when we were trying to find his owner. Hope he's doing alright.
We had FIRE interviews with President and Hermana Tolman. I seriously love them. We got to talk about technology, the safety of our area, etc. Usually Pte gives me some kind of hint for my transfer news, but this time I got nothing. Tune in next week I guess!
We had a fun ward activity with the theme of Argentine Independence. There are actually like 4 holidays that celebrate independence, fun fact. Anyways, the ward gave us little aprons and neckties to wear and the elders went Gaucho mode haha.
This week was really good on the finding grind!! We found 4 new people to teach, which was a pretty big blessing. One of them is named Valeria, the friend of someone else we are teaching and who immediately burst into english as soon as she saw us. She is so funny. She kept going on and on about how much she loves Americans and American culture and English and American boys and American music and even the American flag. We had a great lesson with her and at the end as we were leaving, she raises a fist to the air and yells "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!".
I also hit 6 months in Argentina... wow. Time really flies. We went to lunch with this family who we could NOT understand. At this point I can understand 90% of everything I hear... but this family was about 20%. The oldest son asked how long I had been in Argentina and when I said 6 months he asked me why I can't speak Spanish yet. Oof. It was mostly funny, but in my defense they mumbled and spoke REALLY FAST ok??
I also got to do service!! We painted this old lady's bathroom. Oh man, I miss service. Nothing feels better than going and helping someone, making their life easier, or giving them a break from hard work. I love it.
Speaking of service, my comp and I gave the spiritual thought at the ward activity and we talked about serving others. We watched the video of the Good Samaritan and it made me think of John 13:35:
"By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."
So simple but SO GOOD. I love that love is what sets us apart and makes us recognizable as followers of Christ. Really made me reflect this week about if my love for others shows that I am a representative of Jesus Christ.
Good news is while I work on being that charitable, at least I have the tag on with His name to make me recognizable.
Mucho amor,
Hermana Trash
