51: Double Socks And The Blundstones

It's officially cold enough here to double sock it every day with my boots. When I got my call, I totally expected sweating my brains out in the summer, but I don't think I quite anticipated the cold. The thing is, the cold makes my brain think Christmas should be coming up. So I have been listening to Christmas music all week, haha.

This week was a random conglomeration of fun events so here are some highlights.

We saved a lonely, starved, cold, scared kitten outside the capilla and kept it in the pension until we could find a good home. We named her ROB and she loved climbing on our shoulders and purring. I kinda miss her, and I'm not even a cat person.

We had an AWESOME technology council with our especialistas in person and the excitement was tangible!! So cool to be with all those incredible missionaries and receiving revelation.

We had a blitz in our town where 10 missionaries descended on Carcaraña to contact as many people possible in 2 hours.

For the first time on my mission, I had someone open the door, see us, shake his knife at us, yell some profanities, and slam the door. It was awesome. I felt like a true missionary.

I finally saw the train!!! The train goes through Carcaraña at least 5 times a day and I have ALWAYS wanted to be at the tracks when it passes but we always miss it. This week, my dream came true.

I think our biggest struggle in this area is getting people to church. Since the pandemic, members have been slow to come back to in person meetings and the friends we are teaching have a lot of difficulties getting to the capilla.

I really hope we can start getting the church filled each week because I want my friends to start feeling the peace and joy that comes from going to church each week! Maybe it comes with a little sacrifice of time and gas money, but whatever we give the Lord, He gives back tenfold.

So if you're looking for something to include in your prayers this week, pray for Carcaraña.

Love y'all
Hermana Thrasher
