70: Felicidad
This week was sooo good! Mariano was baptized and confirmed!!!! It was such a happy day. I got to learn how to set up an outdoor font and did an impromptu musical number of "Jesus es mi luz" that unexpectedly turned a cappella after the second verse and ended with everyone dying of laughter. I definitely will never forget that.
But really, Mariano is a miracle and I love him sooo much! He works so hard to bring money home to his parents and brothers, but he still wants to pay a full tithe. He lives so far away, but shows up to church early and stays late to help clean up. He's super humble, super sweet, and honestly hilarious. I'm grateful for people like Mariano who teach me more than I teach them.
Earlier in the week, I also got to do exchanges out in Villa Constitución with my old companion, Hermana Martinez!! My first and last native companion I've ever had. It was super fun because now I actually understand her... no joke. I feel like I learned more about who she is in those 24 hours than in the whole 2 months we were companions.
This week, I decided to open up my Bible and study whatever I came across and I found the parable of the great supper in Luke 14. I don't think I had ever paid attention to that chapter before because I learned SO much from it this time. Y'all should give it a read! But I actually really loved what it teaches about making excuses. There is no excuse for not coming closer to Jesus Christ and His gospel.
Sometimes we think we are so busy with school or work, or that there are other things in our lives that need to be taken care of first. But the truth is, coming to Christ should be our first priority always! No matter what! Because the feast He has prepared will be 10000x better than anything we could busy ourselves doing.
Sometimes I forget that. I know before the mission I would often do homework first and read my scriptures if there was time left over. Even now on the mission, I get caught up in small details and go down some rabbit hole of numbers or little tasks instead of keeping my focus 100% on Christ and the WHY of missionary work.
So here's to a week of keeping our priorities straight!
Love yall
