73: It's Jorts Season

So much happened this week:

-Knocked a door and Franco came out! Hes awesome and loved hearing about the restoration and wanted to learn more when we came back but before we left he went inside and came back with a torta frita for each of us.

-We had the cutest family home evening with the only active family in Funes. For the first time in months, all the sons were home so we got together!! Ian played the violin and we sang hymns, shared a message about baptism, and finished off the night with some real gourmet pizzas. Have yall ever had a pizza with peanut butter as the sauce and strawberries as the topping?

-We got DRENCHED in a storm the other day. I mean there were full lakes of rain water in my shoes. But luckily we were on our way home so we changed into some cozy stuff, turned on some Christmas music, and warmed up.

-We had zone council in the famous Zona Centrooooo (AKA Club Atlético Zona Centro) and talked a lot about the Book of Mormon. It's a powerful book! Have yall read it before? If not let me know, I'll get you a copy.

-Got back into cucaracha-killing shape.

-Explored more of beautiful Funes and found more ditches full of garbage

-It hit hot⁰ a couple of times this week so all the Argentine men pulled out their ripped-skinny-jean jorts from the back of the closet. Pair those babies with a Messi jersey, some sunglasses, and knock off vans and you have yourself a FIT.

-Found weird argentine fruits I ain't never seen before

-Found a LOT of super golden people this week who want to turn their lives around, it is so fun to just walk in the streets and talk to people and testify!!

And then the happiest moment of my mission. We went on a big family style road trip to Venado Tuerto with Pte and Hna Tolman. They filled the trunk with snacks, empanadas, facturas, gaseosas, and oreos and we hit the road. We got the capilla on Junin and 25 de Mayo and got to participate in the baptism of Georgina y Brian. Remember my familia loca? Georgina finally prayed and received her confirmation of the Book of Mormon and Brian finally quit smoking so they were baptized together on November 12, 2022. I've never cried so much at a baptism. I am so happy for them and their family. After 3 of their kids got baptized, they finally made it and are now a big, happy, complete family.

The change from our first lesson to the baptism is unbelievable. They are SO much happier and have such peace and confidence about them. They have a lot more light in their eyes, they laugh more, and there is so much more love in their family. That's why I came on the mission, to find families like the Smolares and help them come to know Christ. I love them so much. They changed my life and I will literally never forget them!

I love yall! Thanks for all the kind emails and I'm so sorry I'm awful at responding sometimes but I appreciate everything yall send. Have such a great week!!!
